We now offer AC and 4-20mA versions of the HS-100 and HS-420 Sensor Series which are intrinsically safe being ATEX and IEC Ex cerified for use in both Group I (Mining) & Group II (Petrochemical) applications. These vibration sensors will operate in environments of inflammable gases, fumes, chemicals, powders, dust, etc.

The sensors can be used to monitor vibration levels on pumps, motors, fans and all other types of rotating machinery

Vibration sensors are used to monitor the vibration levels of all types of rotating machinery including fans, pumps, motors, etc. in power generation stations, gas processing plant and water treatment facilities.

The information gathered by Maintenance Engineers allows them to plan efficiently for repair or replacement of suspect components.

Paper manufacture is usually a 24 hour, 7 day process where a failure in any of the roller bearings means large losses in production.

Due to this, most modern paper mills emply hundreds of sensors to monitor the total plant. Many of these sensors are industrial accelerometers monitoring the vibration levels on the roller bearings. Increasing levels can be detected early giving Engineers time to plan where repair or replacement can be carried out.

Vibration sensors are used in this industry to monitor the vibration levels on machinery producing automotive components, such as engine blocks. The bearings in the shafts and spindle of the machine emit a vibration pattern and when this changes due to deterioration of the machine tools, remedial action can be taken to avoid poor finishing or possible machine damage.

On production lines for drinks and foodstuffs, monitoring of vibration usually takes place on pumps, fans and conveyors.

Again, another industry where production plant failures or inefficencies can mean large losses due faulty or lost products.

Vibration Sensors & Industrial Accelerometers in use.

BUILDING SERVICES

Vibration sensors are used to monitor the vibration levels of all types of rotating machinery including fans, pumps, motors, etc. in public buildings such as airports, hospitals, stations, sports stadiums, etc.

AHU (Air Handling Units) control the air flow in buildings and because access to the motor and fan cannot be gained, accelerometers perform the task. AC or 4-20mA types can be used depending on whether it is required to monitor continuously into a PLC/BMS system or offline into a data collector via a switchbox.

PROCESS INDUSTRY

Most process plant is littered with rotating machinery such as fans, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, motors, centrifuges, mixers, etc. If any one of these devices starts to deteriorate in its performance it can affect product quality and cause loss of production, or perhaps total close down of the production line. Monitoring of all these critical components can warn engineers of any imminent problems.

TURBINE POWER GENERATION

The use of wind turbines to generate electricity has increased considerably over recent years, many of them being placed in remote areas in particular, out at sea. Because of high penalties for non-production, the rotating parts of these generators need to be continuosly monitored to warn of bearing and component wear so that remedial action can be taken to avoid failures.

MARINE

On board ship or submarine, engine bearings, pumps, fans, alternators and other rotating components need continuous monitoring to highlight increasing vibration levels.

AVS Sensor's submersible vibration sensors have been designed to operate whilst partially or completely submerged to a depth of up to 100 metres.

COAL & QUARRY INDUSTRY

The coal mining and quarry industries use many machines for various activities, including crushers and conveyors. Another industry where monitoring of rotating parts is critical to avoid plant stoppage.

Vibration monitoring is used extensively in the manufacture and conversion of metals, mainly in steel and aluminium. The important plant that is monitored includes strip roll bearings, pumps, fans and cooling towers where sensors are used which will operate in a IP68 environment

METAL INDUSTRY

Water and waste treatment uses many types of industrial accelerometers to monitor the vibration level trends on motors, pumps and conveyors.

The sensors usually have IP68 rating for submersible use and are sometimes situated in remote conditions at pumping wells and bore holes. Desalination plants are also users of vibration monitoring sensors.

WATER & WASTE INDUSTRY

Machines that help create the latest commercial and military aircraft by the precision machining of parts and components have to be monitored for vibration levels.

This is normally a remote monitoring situation using sensor models with a low profile that can fit where space is limited.

AEROSPACE

Civil and structural engineers typically use numberous accelerometers for the monitoring of movement of buildings, bridges and other structures. This type of measurement requires a low frequency device, which AVS Sensors will be developing in the near future with their new HS-700 Series

CIVIL & STRUCTURAL

ENGINEERING

Use of vibration sensors in the pharmaceutical industry is typically in Clean Room Manufacturing Cells for drugs.

AHU (Air Handling Units) control the air flow for the drug manufacturing cells and because access to the motor and fan cannot be gained, accelerometers perform the task. AC or 4-20mA types can be used depending on whether it is required to monitor continuously into a PLC/BMS system or offline into a data collector via a switchbox.
