Roll parallelism has a very significant influence on product quality in a variety of industries. Be it in paper, wood, textile, printing or the steel industry, parallel roll alignment is very critical to the bottom line. This alignment process will help to improve product quality, increase production and reduce down time and product waste due to misalignment of rolls.
Measuring Parallelism
Your task is to measure and align rolls or machine components which are not adjacent to one another.
Be it paper machine cylinder rolls or printer elements or just 2 transport guides - the process remains very similar. We can create a reference line perpendicular to our reference roll, outside the machine using a laser receiver at each end. The T310 Laser transmitter and the R310 receivers are able to communicate with each other using Infra-red light; This makes lining up for the following measurements much easier. Now the right angle standing beam can be used to measure the position of the roll to be measured with respect to the reference.
Measurement resolution of 0,01mm.
In other words, when the reference line sensors are 20m apart, the system measurement error is reduced to within 0,5µm per metre of roll length.
Required Hardware
For rapid and precise measurement of parallelism, one T310 Laser transmitter and two R310s are required. A R525 receiver together with an Industrial Mobile Tablet PC completes the major components of the package.
Also needed are one or two tripods with the appropriate height range.
